Who I Am

Please don't be too fooled by the professional photographs. Whilst it was fun capturing the very best bits of my lifestyle, it is a rare achievement if I get round to brushing my hair each day. I can be unorganised and I don't have my shit together all day every day. I embrace the fact that I am a human with the imperfections, emotions, and a perfectly imperfect life. This is why I feel so passionately about the holistic tools I am sharing with you, as they also help me! There are also those other beautiful days when I roll out of bed on the best side, remember my many gratitudes, get all of my tasks done, chill my unproductive rushing, and allow the magic in life to be created.

I am a busy Mumma of two beautiful children, and I grow my business and my passions with, and around my family. They are my top priority. We have melt-downs, connection, things that 'could have gone better', love, tears, joy, 'flaws', and a second chances policy. The school-run feels traumatic to the system some days. We're not 'perfect' and I'm not pretending to be. I strongly believe there's a lot of external pressure in our society and also internal pressure that we put on ourselves of not feeling 'good enough'. Whether it's about being the 'perfect' Mum, partner, surfer, business-woman, and the list could go on. I believe we are all already doing a perfect job at doing our very best whatever that looks like. And whenever it's not been our best, we always have the opportunity to learn from it.

Before I became self-employed two years ago I had established a 15-year career in drug and alcohol work with young people. I adored this work and being of service to teenagers who were struggling in similar ways I had struggled, who also benefited from building positive and therapeutic relationships. My passion for this role remained intact throughout my career but I began to realise that supporting people holistically was more in alignment with my soul, and in my opinion, more effective. I embarked on my own Reiki journey of self-discovery beginning in 2016, initially training as a Reiki Practitioner, then on to becoming a Reiki Master Teacher in 2018. Two years ago I was also introduced to therapeutic grade essential oils and my feelings were confirmed from then on that there was a different way for me to be of service to others by sharing Reiki treatments and oils as holistic tools individually, and in combination. I still adored working with young people but experienced a sense of frustration about 'mainstream' services and their restrictions, including time pressures and a lack of focus on the ‘whole’ person, and holistic methods of supporting wellbeing. This was not all bad and many people had great outcomes in their health, circumstances and wellbeing, not least from the relationship-building process. Nonetheless I felt there was too often a focus on the ‘problems’ or the drug use itself (reinforcing a 'not good-enough' culture), standardised timescales and modalities of working, and financial pressures, all contributing to the fact that one size does not indeed fit all when it comes to mental and emotional health 'symptoms'. With less focus on the connection and depth of someone within a therapeutic relationship, I began to feel increasingly that true service to others combines the assistance of supporting health on every level - physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.

Talking and holistic therapies, combined with the right supportive people at the right time, have been what has helped me the most throughout my own life and with the significant traumas I have experienced. I had experienced periods of ill emotional and mental health both as a child and in adult life, and have found that periods of life with the most wellness, success, achievements, thriving, and shining as an empowered individual, were because of deeper connections with the right people. My committed journey to spiritual growth and the holistic tools I have found and adopted have also aided this process massively and are how I now manage my own holistic health now. Tools such as Reiki and therapeutic grade oils are empowering choices in healthcare accessible to us all to help us heal ourselves, grow as individuals, and remind us that our greatest power ultimately lies within ourselves, taking action for ourselves, and within our own personal traits and strengths.

As our bodies hold all of the traumas we have ever experienced at a cellular level, we can still interact and function from an unconscious place of fear or hurt from our pasts. Reiki and therapeutic grade oils are two accessible resources that assist us in a healthy healing process by embracing and releasing all blockages, traumas, unhelpful or limiting thought patterns, and negative emotions, as well as assisting us with the physical symptoms. This is why I am now incredibly passionate about sharing these tools with others. I have also found tarot and astrology to be another source of useful and profound guidance along the way, and great ‘keys’ to unlocking deeper understanding of ourselves and our relationships.

In addition to the love and support of my family, friends who are as close as family, and the resources I have incorporated along the way, my sports and love of the ocean also keep me recharged and healthy. I am not the best surfer by a long shot. I still have sessions with comical face plants, intense battles getting outback on bigger days, and shyness amongst 'the good surfers' when I'm feeling like a complete kook after years of surfing. No matter what, one thing remains constant through the great and the not so great rides - it is my passion. As my top hobby, surfing brings such joy and challenge but also is so special because of the reflection it has to life's learning curves and the feeling of sanctuary I experience in the sea. Getting in the sea to me means connection - connection to nature, cleansing, restoring, and most importantly, fun. Ultimately, it is a space for connection to myself, to recharge and pause from the quick pace of life. Skate-boarding helps me to stay fit and train for surfing, as well as being super-fun. My holistic resources, therapeutic grade oils and Reiki support me to energise, recover, heal, self-care, and relate, to myself, my loved ones, my clients, and to help me find space and ability for all of my passions, roles and tasks.

What Makes Me Tick?

Apart from spending time with my family and going surfing, there are many other passions that make me tick. I am a nurturing and adoring mother to my bubbas but also free-spirited and have been incredibly independent from a young age. Astrology has given me a great deal of understanding about myself, and about life’s rich tapestry! It’s definitely been interesting. My deep resonance with the perspective that the life traumas I have experienced have given me many gifts and reasons to be grateful. The gift of trauma has proved a fascinating journey of self-discovery, and of course is a journey that is ongoing and never ends. I believe whilst we are alive we are here to grow and have the opportunity to constantly express ourselves as our best ever version. Essential oils have recently helped me profoundly with this, whether this has been by remembering to ground into my body rather than letting my mind run away, for combatting limiting beliefs and cycles that no longer serve me, for self-belief, self-worth, confidence, and ultimately; for allowing myself to shine. This is a journey daily, often more than people might know from talking to me. This is why I feel so passionately about helping others to shine to their own highest potential too, through supporting people, with connection, and with accessible tools. Most importantly, I feel part of my role is to remind people, as I have needed regularly reminding, that the strongest power is already within us innately. Sometimes life or trauma comes up and we forget that we have already got this power. The tools I am sharing, are simply to assist us on our own journeys of self-development and for thriving in our own skins.

I am not religious or worshipping to anything external, yet I am deeply respectful of ancient wisdom and of natural laws such as the seasons, the astrological year, the planets, and the tides (of course!). Mother Nature and all her resources that sustain us so richly are often overlooked and are another of my daily gratitudes. I have had to work hard during processes of forgetting all of this, making mistakes, and remembering again to incorporate my learning and gratitudes. I understand the cyclical nature of life and evolution, and part that of our realisation of wholeness comes from the illusion of separation and feeling 'broken'. We are born to be our best, it’s only life’s experiences that we allow to shape or misshape us, and the dance between these two states is how we grow into our best. For me, hitting rock bottom a few times at difficult periods in life have been magnificent teachers. But I am not fooled that rock bottom is the only profound teacher as I also believe we can choose to learn new ways at any time. The beauty of being alive at this time on earth is that we have more tools, choices, and opportunities to grow and shine than ever before. It doesn’t all need to come from a place of hardship, although many of us will understand each other deeply from that space.

The beauty is that wellness can be a conscious part of our daily routine, and this self-care and value (which I am still working on everyday), is so crucial for our best functioning on all levels. Without feeling worthy and nurtured ourselves, we can’t be of service or truly nurturing to others, let alone keep up with the demand of the various roles that are expected of us in an often idealistic society, and the roles we expect to be for ourselves. A notion of strong community, or in centuries gone by; tribes, have been somewhat lost and with it a key part of our structural support. We are too often ‘too busy’, ‘too skint’, or ‘burnt-out’ trying to do it all. Pressures of modern life can seem mounting, which again I speak of experientially and am on the journey of self-care too. This is why I feel it is part of my role to remind you (and myself) that we have got this with the right mental and emotional inner state, the resources to achieve this and be our best - for ourselves and for our external world. I adore helping people find their own inner light and strength, through whatever means that have resonated with them as empowering.
